Advisor

Please see your advisor (if you already have one) to check in and for advisement. If you do not have any advisor yet, refer to Section 5.

Payroll

If you are receiving an assistantship or fellowship, please see Barbara Estes in the Payroll office to fill out all the paper work. (112 Rhines Hall)

1. You will need your social security card.
2. If you are a foreign student you will need your passport and visa.
3. Foreign students must apply for their social security number at the Social Security Office located at 2002 NW 13th Street.

Academic Services Office

Please see Doris Harlow, Jennifer Horton, or Martha McDonald.

1. You will need to fill out an address form and an emergency notification form.
2. All students must provide us with your gatorlink email address. This is obtained after you purchase your Gator1 ID card at the HUB.
3. You will need to check for any "holds" you may have that will prevent you from course registration. There are several reasons you may have a "hold" such as outstanding immunization records or outstanding payment of fees.
4. This office can process your course registration after you have seen your advisor.
5. The Academic Services Office will act as a liaison for you with other offices and departments.

Residency

If you are a U.S. citizen you should apply for Florida residency as soon as you arrive.

1. File a declaration of Domicile in Florida at the Alachua County Administration Building (located at the corner of University Avenue and Main Street) as soon as you arrive.
2. Obtain a Florida driver's license, Florida vehicle registration, voter's registration, etc.
3. Keep and maintain records of rental agreements, leases, and deposits on utilities.
4. Keep proof of employment in Florida, especially income tax return forms so that you may be eligible for Florida residency after one year.
