Graduation Checklist for Masters and Ph.D. Degrees

Go through a graduation check with the Academic Services Office at least one year before you graduate and another check the term before you expect to graduate.

Apply for your degree by filling out a degree application within the first two weeks of the semester (two days if summer term) you plan on graduating. This form can be obtained from the registrar or the MSE Academics Office

Comply with Graduate School rules and Graduate School thesis/dissertation and final examination deadlines, which are always available at the Editorial Office in Grinter Hall or the Academic Services Office.

Register for the correct number of thesis/dissertation hours during the term you plan to graduate. For Fall and Spring Terms - minimum 3 hours; Summer term - minimum 2 hours.

Complete the departmental employment questionnaire and exit interview and return it to the Academic Services Office along with all departmental keys you may have. This will complete your degree certification and allow you to graduate.

One last reminder: as stated on page 27 under General Regulations of the 2001 University of Florida Graduate Catalogue, "Ignorance of a rule does not constitute a basis for waiving that rule." These catalogues, which are filled with a wealth of information, are available from either the Academics office or the registrar.
