Guidelines for ALL (M.S. and Ph.D.) Defensese

Graduate students must notify the Academic Services Office at least ten days prior to any defense. The office will then prepare an announcement and the appropriate paperwork. In order to prepare everything correctly the student will need to bring a copy of their title page and notify the office of when and where the defense will be, as well as the type of defense the student will present.

On the day of the defense the student's file and appropriate faculty signature page must be picked up by a faculty member on their supervisory committee in the Academic Services Office and brought to the examination. Signatures from all the committee members will be required (in black ink) on all defense forms. After the defense, the student's file must be returned immediately to the Academic Services Office, by one of the Supervisory Committee members in order to obtain the signatures from the Department Chair, the Dean of the College, and the Graduate School.
