The entire supervisory committee must attend the doctoral proposal defense. When necessary, there may be one MSE graduate faculty substitute, except for the supervisory chair or the external member. No one can substitute for either of those members. After the defense the student's file must be returned to the Academic Services office as soon as possible by one of the Supervisory Committee members.
